Notice of Updated Guide Data Requirements: New/Repeat and Live Fields

Comscore and other major guide data providers are now requiring the fields for both the New/Repeat and Live fields in your guides to be populated. 

This requirement enables the more efficient automated processing and distribution of your guide data.  The user experience of your guide’s viewers may also be improved by this additional data.

 New/Repeat Attribute
For schedules sent from MediaStar Scheduler/Manager to Guide Data Providers via DDR or report output, the field for the New/Repeat attribute must be populated. Inclusion of New/Repeat data in your guide data allows an essential, consistent standard across all scheduling workflows.

 Live Attribute
For all Live programming—especially News and Sports—the Live field must be populated in MediaStar using one of the following attributes:

  • Live
  • Live Replay
  • Live Taped

This data is critical for proper DVR functionality. For example, when a local viewer sets their DVR to record all live newscasts, missing or inaccurate Live information in your guide data can result in that viewer missing a live local broadcast entirely.

 Additional Impact for Comscore Clients
The New/Repeat and Live attributes are now required for stations submitting as-run data from MediaStar to Comscore/TiVo. Missing or incomplete data may impact downstream reporting and audience measurement.

 As Guide Data Providers continue to increase automation, the accurate population of these fields in MediaStar Scheduler and Manager is crucial. These fields are now essential to ensure:

  • Reliable DVR recordings
  • Accurate guide data delivery
  • A consistent and positive viewer experience

Please review your MediaStar scheduling and as-run workflows to ensure the New/Repeat and Live fields are consistently populated for all applicable programming.
