Bringing more than 20 years of broadcasting experience, industry leadership, and a commitment to connecting technical innovation with real-world solutions.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — TitanTV, Inc. is pleased to announce that its President, Heidi Steffen, is running for a seat on the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) Board of Directors for the 2027–2029 term.

With more than 20 years of experience in the broadcast industry, Steffen brings a unique perspective shaped by her work across broadcast advertising, station operations, technology development, consumer services, and industry collaboration.

Throughout her career, Steffen has focused on helping broadcasters navigate an evolving industry, improve operational efficiencies, and leverage technology to create new opportunities.

“Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to experience broadcasting from many different perspectives,” said Steffen. “I’ve seen the financial and operational challenges broadcasters face, worked directly with technology providers to develop solutions, and heard firsthand from consumers about their experiences receiving and discovering broadcast television. I believe that combination of experiences provides a valuable perspective as ATSC looks toward the future.”

A Career Connecting Broadcasting, Technology, and Consumers

Steffen joined TitanTV in 2007 and has held several leadership positions within the company, including Chief Revenue Officer and Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, before becoming President in May 2026.

Her experience extends beyond traditional technology and software leadership.

Early in her career, Steffen worked in local broadcast advertising, gaining firsthand knowledge of the financial realities broadcasters face and the importance of developing sustainable business models.

At TitanTV, she has worked directly with broadcast stations to identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve operational efficiencies, and help smaller teams accomplish more with limited resources.

She is also actively involved in TitanTV’s product development initiatives, working alongside software development teams and industry technology partners on integrations, interoperability, and solutions that support broadcasters’ changing needs.

Through TitanTV’s consumer-facing services, including TitanTV.com and AntennaWeb.org, Steffen has gained an additional perspective that is sometimes overlooked in discussions about broadcast technology: the consumer experience.

“Developing innovative technology is only part of the equation,” Steffen explained. “We also need to make sure that technology works as intended and that consumers can easily access, discover, and enjoy the services it makes possible.”

A Strong Commitment to Industry Leadership and Collaboration

In addition to her leadership at TitanTV, Steffen has remained actively involved in organizations helping shape the future of broadcasting.

She currently serves as Chair of the ATSC Communications Committee, where she works with industry representatives to strengthen communications surrounding ATSC standards and their role in advancing broadcast technology.

Her industry involvement also includes leadership and participation with the Advanced Television Broadcasting Alliance (ATBA), the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) Video Promotions Working Group, and the NAB Show Exhibitor Advisory Committee.

These experiences have allowed Steffen to build relationships across the broadcast industry and develop a broader understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing broadcasters, manufacturers, technology providers, and consumers.

“ATSC has some of the brightest technical minds in our industry,” said Steffen. “I believe there is a tremendous opportunity to build on their work by ensuring the standards we develop are understood, successfully implemented, and delivering meaningful value.”

Strengthening ATSC’s Communications and Industry Influence

One of Steffen’s priorities as a Board candidate is strengthening how ATSC communicates the value of its standards.

She believes ATSC has an opportunity to expand its influence beyond the engineering community by demonstrating how its standards address practical business challenges and create opportunities for innovation.

“ATSC needs to move from explaining what we develop to demonstrating what we make possible,” said Steffen.

Her approach emphasizes three priorities:

  • Strengthening ATSC’s voice as a trusted source for broadcast standards and a leader in conversations about the industry’s future.
  • Making technical messaging more accessible to business leaders, manufacturers, policymakers, industry partners, and other audiences.
  • Demonstrating real-world value by highlighting how ATSC standards improve operational efficiencies, create new business opportunities, and enhance the consumer experience.

Steffen also supports highlighting successful implementations, emerging applications, and industry collaborations that demonstrate how ATSC standards are being used in practice.

Supporting a Successful ATSC 3.0 Transition

As the U.S. broadcast industry continues its transition to ATSC 3.0, Steffen believes ATSC has an important role in supporting implementation, interoperability, and industry collaboration.

Her work at TitanTV has provided firsthand experience with many of the technical and operational considerations involved in that transition.

Through TitanTV’s involvement with Program and System Information Protocol (PSIP), Electronic Service Guide (ESG) data, program metadata, and NEXTGEN TV receiver interoperability testing, Steffen has seen how even small inconsistencies can create challenges across interconnected systems.

“The success of ATSC 3.0 isn’t just about how many stations are broadcasting a 3.0 signal,” said Steffen. “It’s about how well everyone across the industry works together to deliver value to broadcasters, technology providers, and consumers.”

She believes ATSC can help accelerate the transition by continuing to develop practical and flexible standards, supporting interoperability testing, providing trusted technical guidance, and bringing industry participants together to address common implementation challenges.

Equally important is communicating the opportunities ATSC 3.0 creates beyond traditional television broadcasting, including enhanced emergency alerts, improved accessibility, interactive services, new content delivery capabilities, and potential new revenue opportunities.

Looking Toward the Future

For Steffen, serving on the ATSC Board of Directors represents an opportunity to bring together her experience in business leadership, technology implementation, communications, and industry collaboration to help guide the organization’s future.

“I would welcome the opportunity to bring my experience, industry relationships, and passion for broadcasting to the ATSC Board as we continue shaping the future of our industry.”
